Identified Problem
The problem here is that with increasing levels of loneliness the number of people with depression also increases. In the article Mental Health ‘Epidemic’ Hits Generation Z by Dora Mekouar explains “A report released Thursday by the American Psychological Association finds the rate of adolescents reporting symptoms of major depression increased 52 percent between 2005 and 2017 — from 8.7 percent to 13.2 percent — among youth from the ages of 12 and 17. The increase was even higher — 63 percent from 2009 to 2017 — among young adults between the ages of 18 and 25. The survey examined data from 611,880 adolescents and adults. The researchers did not find a similar increase in adults older than 26.” With this information you can see that it make it easier to see the jump in depression levels among the different generations ,but it also brings light to the technology generation and how there was a significantly bigger jump in depression. This jump back ups the fact we are disconnected from the world and the people in it. To put this in more simpler words we are starting to rely on are phones to fix thing rather than relying on other people to help us.
This is true at the end of the day it is up to you if you choose to keep your friend and family around you when you need them most instead of pushing them away.
The reason this problem exist is because in today’s time we are constantly change and upgrading are technology to make it more easier to use. In the article technology addiction by Susan Ladika shares the fact the “overuse of technology typically stems from an underlying condition, such as anxiety, depression or attention deficit disorder.” What this is show is that technology is the one that make us lonely ,yet the reason why we use it so much is the fact we might already have depression or some other mental disorder. What this means it that we can not fix the loneliness factor in depression without fixing the constant use if technology, because they all seem to be working hand and hand to work against us as a community. On top of this its hard to fix a problem that the people do not want to fix.
